In this episode of Lives Lived, Else Chegahno talks about knowing she’s always wanted children and how she tried for almost 20 years without success. Six weeks into nursing school, a phone call changed everything when she and her husband were asked if they would consider adoption. They adopted Adam Frandsen in 1984 near the end of an era when Indigenous children were being adopted into white families. Adam is unlikely to ever know his birth family. What can Else and Adam’s story teach us about what makes a family?
